Accessibility Statement

Parental Leave Pro is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to people with disabilities. We believe that planning parental leave is a deeply consequential financial and family decision, and every parent should have meaningful access to the information and tools we provide.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and more user-friendly for everyone.

Measures we take

  • Semantic structure. Pages use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and meaningful HTML elements so that screen readers and other assistive technologies can navigate effectively.
  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element is operable from the keyboard alone. A skip-to-content link allows keyboard users to bypass repeated navigation.
  • Visible focus indicators. Interactive elements show a clearly visible focus outline when navigated by keyboard.
  • Color contrast. Text is presented with contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Resizable text. The site uses relative font sizes so visitors can resize text up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Alternative text. Meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative graphics are marked so assistive technologies can ignore them.
  • Form labels. Form fields have programmatically associated labels and accessible error messages.
  • Reduced motion. We honor the operating system's "prefers reduced motion" setting and minimize animation for visitors who request it.
  • ARIA landmarks. Navigation regions are labeled so that assistive technology users can move between sections of the page efficiently.

Known limitations

We work continuously to improve accessibility. As of the date above, some areas of the site may not yet fully meet our standard:

  • The interactive timeline (Gantt) and calendar views on the optimizer and leave plan pages communicate information primarily through color and position. We provide an equivalent list view alongside these visualizations for users who prefer non-visual representation.
  • Some PDF exports may not be fully tagged for screen-reader navigation. The same content is available on the website itself.
  • We are continuing to improve color contrast on small decorative text labels (section headers in the sidebar and footer).

If you encounter a barrier we haven't listed, please tell us. We want to fix it.

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days and will work with you to provide the information you need by an alternative method, if necessary, while we address the underlying issue.

Third-party content

Our site uses standard third-party services (such as our hosting platform) that have their own accessibility practices. Where we link to third-party content (such as state agency websites), the accessibility of that content is governed by the third party.

Continuous improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time achievement. We test our work as we ship it, and we welcome your feedback to help us prioritize improvements.

Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility concern, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice, the relevant state attorney general, or another appropriate enforcement agency, depending on your jurisdiction.

This Accessibility Statement reflects our current efforts and standards as of the date above. We update it as we make changes to the site.
